I can’t put this any better than Kyle Smith just did:
Paul Newman’s first, worst movie, the eagerly unawaited “The Silver Chalice,” is finally premiering on DVD–now that Newman, who hated the movie, is safely dead.
I have never seen this film myself, but I have always had a morbid interest in doing so, ever since I got The Golden Turkey Awards for my 12th birthday or thereabouts, and I saw that this film had earned Newman the prize for ‘Most Embarrassing Movie Debut’.
I obviously cannot comment on the film myself, yet, but for those who want to know more about it, I recommend the evenhanded write-up that Matt Page posted at his Bible Films Blog last year.
