Dave Hickman has just released a new book called Closer Than Close: Awakening to the Freedom of Your Union with Christ. I caught up with Dave to discuss his new book. Enjoy! Instead of asking, “what is your book about,” I’m going to ask the question that’s behind that question. And that unspoken question is, “how are readers going to benefit from reading your book?” Dave Hickman: The book will benefit readers who are huffing and puffing to try to... Read more

Stephen Backhouse has come out with a new biography on the great Christian philosopher Kierkegaard. I recently caught up with Stephen to discuss the new book, Kierkegaard: A Single Life. Enjoy! Instead of asking, “what is your book about,” I’m going to ask the question that’s behind that question. And that unspoken question is, “how are readers going to benefit from reading your book?” Stephen Backhouse: Readers will get an accessible life story of a famously inaccessible man. They will... Read more

Neil Averitt has just released his new project, The Single Gospel.  This is an integrated text of the four Christian gospels.  It takes the texts of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and edits them together into one consolidated story. I caught up with Neil to discuss his new book. Enjoy! Instead of asking, “what is your book about,” I’m going to ask the question that’s behind that question. And that unspoken question is, “how are readers going to benefit from reading... Read more

What 3.42 Billion Women Are Missing Out On (spoof, kinda) Dear Women and Men of Planet Earth, It’s March 2016 and Mary DeMuth’s book – The Day I Met Jesus: The Revealing Diaries of Five Women from the Gospels – has been out for a year. According to my painstaking research (okay, I asked Siri on my iPhone), approximately 3.42 billion women still haven’t gotten a copy of Mary’s book. This is most perplexing to me. More so than trying to understand... Read more

Many of you who read this blog are speakers, podcasters, authors, writers, and other creatives. As such, you know the value of saving time and creating new valuable content. Example: for my recent PROLIFIC Productivity & Creativity Program, I hired Janette Mowry to transcribe all 22 audios which made up the PDF transcript to the course. Janette does a great job and her prices are competitive. I caught up with Janette recently to talk to here about how a transcriber... Read more

Richard N. Longenecker is one of my favorite New Testament scholars. His Galatians commentary is regarded as a classic in the field. I personally found the commentary both helpful and a delight to read. Longenecker’s introduction to Galatians is highly detailed, weighing into the various debates over Galatians. Like myself, he holds to the South Galatian theory and makes an excellent case for it. He also disagrees with New Perspective authors on the meaning of the “works of the Law,”... Read more

One of the many books I’m using as a source for my revised version of The Untold Story of the New Testament Church, due to release in the future, is Coming Out Christian in the Roman World: How the Followers of Jesus Made a Place in Caesar’s Empire. The book takes an intriguing look at the first-century Roman world in light of Christianity. While I may not agree with all of its conclusions, I value the historical data. Here’s a... Read more

The Bible transcends time. Its message lives and breathes for people in every age—be it premodern, modern, or postmodern. The latter is the world in which we find ourselves. In my 2009 book, From Eternity to Here, I presented three tales that sought to narrate God’s ultimate passion. Those tales are solidly grounded in Scripture. In fact, they embody the whole story of Scripture, streaming through it like a constant current. (Of course, they are my interpretation of that story.)... Read more
