5. Brady Ellison
Self-described “country boy” Brady Ellison, 27, took home the bronze medal for archery at the Rio Olympics. His coach considers him “the most talented archer in the world.” Like his other fellow Christian athletes, Brady’s philosophy on competing isn’t about winning but putting the proper focus on the One who gave him the talent:
“Once I put winning in God’s hands, I stopped worrying about that. I just went to tournaments and shot with no fear, doing only the best I can do and leaving the rest up to God.”
His U.S. teammate Jacob Wukie shares his friend’s love for Christ and his approach to winning:
“While for a long time archery has been a very big part of what I do, my identity is in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Since I am confident He is in control and has a plan for my life, I am able to give my best and let the rest lie in His hands.”
