3. What’s Appealing about Finstas?
I’ve never seen more glorious eyebrows than I’ve seen on Instagram. During the summers, I now have the chance to not only imagine but to see all of the amazing vacations I’m not having with my family. And the romantic couples at their expensive dinners seem to pop up just as my husband and I have had a fight.
Kids are seeing what you already know — the glossy, filtered photos of Instagram don’t reflect the reality of most people’s lives… and they want something more authentic.
But from what I’ve seen, Finstas don’t actually provide a more authentic place for kids to be themselves. Rather, these accounts seem to be the place where kids try to develop a different side of themselves – the “funny,” or “more complicated” version of their glossy “Insta” profiles.
