Leaders of the Satanic Temple are starting a new initiative that might be coming to your kid’s elementary school, according to the Washington Post:
They point out that Christian evangelical groups already have infiltrated the lives of America’s children through after-school religious programming in public schools, and they appear determined to give young students a choice: Jesus or Satan.
“It’s critical that children understand that there are multiple perspectives on all issues, and that they have a choice in how they think,” said Doug Mesner, the Satanic Temple’s co-founder.
So what would an after school program led by the Satanic Temple be like?
Well, The Satanic Temple — in spite of their name — claims they don’t actually believe in Satan. Apparently it’s a way to draw attention to atheism, which just isn’t sexy enough to get headlines without throwing in a reference to the being they say they don’t believe in.
Then, they claim to be committed “scientific rationality.”
I gotta say — the fact that they can apply the words “scientific rationality” to an after school Satanic Club that is advertised in the below ad is just rich. Nothing says logic, rationality, and science than this two minutes and twenty four seconds:
Tell me what YOU think!
