7 Quick Takes Friday

I think we’re going to see Ramona and Beezus tonight. Sometimes it just seems like a movie night. I like going to the movies, and I figure, once the baby comes, we won’t be going out all that much for a while, especially not to take an infant to a movie theater. Might as well enjoy it now!

Is anyone else planning to go see it in the theater, or see it when it comes out on dvd?

I read a few of the Ramona books as a child, so I’m excited to see if the movie is close to the books or not.

I am getting really antsy for the 18 week ultrasound on August 3rd. I am excited to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl, but I’m also feeling antsy to find out if everything is ok. Not that I’m really worried, but I don’t feel like I’m putting any weight on really (is that normal by 16.5 weeks?) so it makes me think…”Hey what’s going on in there?” It’ll be good to see the baby on the 3rd and make sure everything is going the way its supposed to.

Tomorrow is the farmers market! I love the farmers market! it’s so much fun to be outside in the morning, and seeing all the farmers selling their produce and meat, and dairy, etc. I also love to see all the people who are at the farmers market; it’s great people watching! Not to mention the wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables. Oh, and the eggs too! We just started getting our eggs from local sources more consistently and the difference is delicious. Good-bye grocery store eggs (I hope!)

Maternity shorts? Elizabeth over at that married couple wrote about maternity shorts today and her new-found love for them. I would love to get on the maternity shorts band wagon, but alas, right now I don’t have a single pair of shorts which fit me.

I’d like to get some maternity shorts, but all of the pairs I have seen are too short. I only had one pair of shorts before I get pregnant anyway, and they were bermuda style — just about two inches above the knee.I’d ideally like to find a pair of maternity shorts which are about that long, but they all seem to be quite short.

A little shorter than my standards of modesty dictate, and also, short enough that I’d have to shave more of my legs… and who wants to do that?

Has anyone found maternity shorts that are long-ish?

Atticus and I picked blackberries with another couple last weekend, and it was so much fun! I made a pie this week, and I think it came out pretty well! I’m not a big pie maker, but it was a pretty easy recipe. Just blackberries, some sugar and flour and a little butter on the top before the top crust was put on.

I think I might attempt peach next.

What’s your favorite Catholic/Christian children’s book? I know I have time, but I figure it’s never too early to think about starting a library for the babes.
