Holy Rolling Baby!

After struggling for nearly two months to roll from back to tummy, Maggie finally figured it out, and this week has been a blast! I set her down on the rug, turn around, and when I look back, she is half-way across the room, facing the opposite direction that I set her down facing.

The pack and play has been turned into a play-yard, and she is getting so much better at sitting up and playing on her own. It’s awesome.

Of course it leaves less time for blogging.

Which is part of the reason why it’s been so quiet over here lately.

But I’ve got a post in mind that involves both Bruce Springsteen and Catherine of Siena, so watch out!

If you’re ever looking for an awesome workout that is fun, goes by fast, and makes you sweat in places you didn’t sweat could form, then please try Zumba.

Our local Ymca offers it twice a week with an instructor who manages to be both awesome and scary as hell simultaneously.

So much fun!

Speaking of fun and sweat, I’m doing weight watchers, which I mentioned a few posts back.

It’s going pretty well. The first week I lost 3.2 pounds. The second week .4 of a pound (thanks 4th of July BBQ) and the third week 1 pound for a total loss of 4.6 pounds in three weeks.

I’m now about 4 pounds away from what I was pre-pregnancy, and about 8 pounds from my goal weight.

It’s going slow, but I try to remind myself that slow progress is better for long term maintenance than losing ten pounds in one month.

Also, the weight watchers ice cream desserts are really quite good for being “diet food”. I’d recommend them for a small treat.

Harry Potter was awesome. In fact, so awesome that I went to see it again. By myself. Atticus’ mom was here on Tuesday night, and he had to work in the evening, so grandma watched Maggie and I went to see it again. It was just as good the second time.

It was also weird to be at a movie alone. I did go to movies alone a fair bit before I was married, but hadn’t since getting married. I got over feeling awkward about five minutes into the previews, however.

I have to say after attending this movie, that people are nuts.

This family walked into the theater and sat right behind me. It was a mom, a dad, and two kids. Cute, right?

Except the kids were about 4 and 6. Yeah, you read that right. A 4 year old and 6 year old at the PG-13 rated Harry Potter movie showing at 8:00 pm.

Excuse me, but what the hell? Sure, you want to go see the movie and you have kids. I understand. Get a baby sitter. If you can’t afford a baby-sitter, wait until it comes to red box and rent it for one dollar, or get it on NetFlix.

The children acted, of course, like children do. They talked, they threw popcorn, and when their parents hissed threats at them, they cried.

I got up and moved half way through the movie.

I don’t blame the kids, I blame their idiot parents.

What kind of person wants to spend the entire two hours of a movie telling a tired, jacked up on sugar, tiny angry human to shut up one hundred times, knowing full well that every person in the theater hates you? Is that what they’re calling a “good time” these days?

The only movie a 4 year old should be walking into is the Pooh Bear movie.

1.

Just in case I’ve managed to offend any readers who might bring their toddlers to movies rated PG and up:

It’s pooh bear! How can anyone be mad when they see that loveable little t-shirt wearing animal?

Anyway, hope you have a lovely weekend, whether in the Hundred Acre Wood or elsewhere!
