Have you heard about the woman who gave birth to her son in an art museum as a piece of performance art?
At first I was skeptical, but upon watching an interview with the new mom this morning on GMA, I think this is a good idea. She explained her reasons for doing it, and I have to say, I agree. She said that “having a baby is the most beautiful work of art.” She also said that “childbirth is our [woman’s] greatest power.” Rock on sister!
I mean, I would never, ever, in a million years give birth in public (though really, there were about seven people (attending, resident, nurses, NICU people, etc) I’d never even met in the room when Maggie was born. But still. I wouldn’t do what she did, but I’m glad she did it. There’s enough garbage masquerading as art in the world. This is a good thing. What do you think?
Also, she had an 8 hour labor (where can I get one?) and was presented with a trophy for giving birth. Note to Atticus, where’s my trophy? 😉

Also on GMA, was this adorable father-daughter wedding dance that’s gone viral. I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but it’s super cute. It manages to incorporate The Four Tops, Beyonce, and Jump on It. Epic.

Love it!

I feel after my desperate sleep post that an update is in order. We tried CIO, and it worked. Really easily. The first night she cried ten minutes, fell asleep, woke up an hour later, cried five minutes, then slept through till morning. Same thing the next night. So she goes to bed by 8:15 every night, and she cries for between 1-10 minutes (depending on how tired she is), then we usually don’t hear from her again until around 7:45 the next morning.
Exactly.

Friends, I have been doing Weight Watchers for four months and I’m almost to my goal weight! I joined WW with the goal of getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
Starting weight: 161
Pre-pregnancy weight: 151 (Initial goal)
Ultimate goal: 146
Right now I’m at 150, so I’m back to my pre-Maggie weight, which means all my clothes fit again. I’ve lost 11 pounds, and I have 4 more to go. With having PCOS, it’s actually very hard for me to lose weight. My body just wants to hang on to every.single.calorie. If I didn’t work out, I wouldn’t lose anything. Exercise is the key for me to lose. In fact, when I went to my doctor this past time and he saw that I lost 11 pounds, he was really surprised. So, it might not seem like 11 pounds in 3 months is much, but for me its a victory!

On Tuesday we went to Target and bought discount costumes for future dress-up. Two princess dresses for ten bucks!
Snow White

Sleeping Beauty
Frankly, I bought the size 4t-6 because the 2-3T ones had skirts that hit mid-thigh. Mid-thigh. On Toddlers. And, the bigger size will last longer for play.
I’m so excited to have a dress-up closet for Maggie. Probably a little too excited.

Saturday night Atticus and I are going to a Cajun themed dinner at our church. It’s run by our awesome chapter of Knights of Columbus (of which Atticus is a knight), and the dinner is a fundraiser for the pro-life office.
It’s the first time Maggie will be with a sitter who isn’t grandma. She’ll be spending three hours with our next door neighbor’s 16 year old daughter. She’s done safe-sitter at the Ymca. It’s going to be ok. Right?
Right?
Right?

I’m not sure if this is hilarious or cruel. Probably both. You watch. You decide.
Happy weekend! Go see Jen for more quick takes!
