** 1 ** Ladies, I’m so excited for this weekend! Tonight we’re going to a small get together/game night at a friends house, and the best part is that it’s Mexican themed! I’m in charge of bringing chips and guacamole and salsa. I’ve been looking for recipes. I have a good guacamole recipe, but I’m looking for a good salsa recipe, especially if it uses strawberries or pineapple, since we have a lot of those at home. Let me know... Read more

Friends, A while back the lovely Rae asked me to consider writing a post about why I want to be a stay-at-home-mom. I accepted the challenge, and she’s posted it today. So go on over to No Wealth But Life, to see my attempt at guest blogging! Read more

Last week, I came across the Dress Dare Challenge posted by the ladies at Defining Beauty. I love this newly discovered blog. They are young, Catholic women writing about how to define true beauty and encouraging ways to think more about what it means to be feminine in our world. Wonderful! About the challenge, they say, “Our goal is to discover, inspire and encourage femininity, so dare to be different and don’t worry too much about fashion.” Of course, I... Read more

** 1 **  I have been so.tired. Last night I went to bed at 9:30 and I got up this morning at 9:30. But before I dragged my butt up to bed at 9:30, I was comatose on the couch for about an hour. Even as I type this, I’m on the couch, surveying all the boxes that still need to be unpacked. I WILL be productive today! ** 2 ** Tonight Atticus and I are having a date night!... Read more

Friends, I stumbled upon something so interesting today, though I’m sad to say I seem to have missed the boat. The dress dare challenge that has been going on over at Defining Beauty. Basically, these ladies laid a challenge to wear only skirts or dresses (except for sleeping and working out — and leggings are acceptable) for the month of May, in order to encourage reflection on what it means to be feminine. How did I miss this?? Sadly, today... Read more

Ruins and Churches Ruins Our first full day in Rome was spent touring the ruins of ancient Rome — including the Colosseum, the Forum, and parts of Palatine Hill. The Colosseum was very impressive. Not beautiful, for it doesn’t have much air of beauty about it at all. What makes it remarkable is the feat of its sheer size, having been built around the 1st century (AD 80). It’s immense. The Colosseum was used as the arena for the gladiator... Read more

Friends, I’ve been thinking for a few days of the best way to organize a few posts about our trip. I could do a chronological series of posts on our days. But, that sounds a bit boring doesn’t it? 😉 I also tend to think more thematically than chronologically, so I’ll have more fun writing about the kinds of things we saw, rather than just the order we saw them in. I think I’ll do it this way: 1. Ruins... Read more

Head over to Conversion Diary for more quick-takes and for Jen’s bubbling wit! ** 1 ** Friends, today is our last day in the current house. Yes, remember when we bought a house waaayyy back about 1.5 months ago? We’re FINALLY moving into it, tomorrow. We had some painting delays, some carpet delays, and needless to say I am ready to be moved! I’m hoping to get to another post about Rome this weekend, but it probably won’t get posted... Read more

Hello Friends, We have returned from our Roman Holiday! There’s so much to share; I’m not sure where to begin. We arrived in Rome after a bus ride, a flight, another flight, and a train. We collapsed in a heap at our hotel in the afternoon of May 1st, woke up a few hours later just in time for a dinner of a-mazing pizza and gelato. My love affair with gelato began that evening and continued to grow over the... Read more
