God bless us, every one!

God bless us, every one! December 23, 2011

I would like to wish all of you readers–conservatives and liberals, Lutherans and non-Lutherans and anti-Lutherans, Christians and other religionists and atheists, moralists and libertarians, Tea Partiers and Occupy Wall Streeters, experts and textperts and choking smokers, and all of the other varied souls who frequent this blog–a merry, merry celebration of the Incarnation of our God and Savior (whether you believe in Him or not)!

I taught the preschoolers at the Church I serve the term “incarnation” for their “Christmas” Chapel on Wednesday. They can say that Christmas word very well now to the chagrin of some of their parents. Happy Incarnation of our Savior, Dr. Veith!

Merry Christmas, Dr. Veith and everyone else here. Thank you for all of the varied and interesting perspectives you all have expressed and aptly defended throughout the year. Hanging out here has definitely expanded my religious and political horizons.

  • So, without doing an online search, who can (1) identify the source of my “expert, textpert, choking smoker” reference (2) give the next line (3) give the next line (4) give the next line?

Dr. Veith, Like Steve horizons have also taken up a boon led on by the Holy Spirit and our Lord. #1 The chain smoker with emphazema too can rejoice even if the power of quitting eludes him or her. #2 Varied souls are also blessed from this day, the Chirstmas. Through praise, prayers and proclamation some might yet join our joyful throng, #3 They too might realize God’s great love of them and all creation. Finally to question #4?–All praise and honor to Him Jesus Christ the living God. _Peace indeed!!!

God rest you merry gentlmen (and ladies); let nothing you dismay. Remember, Christ, Our Savior, was born on Christmas Day, to save us all from Satan’s power, when we were gone astray.

    Tidings of comfort and joy.

  • This is almost certainly the first Christmas message I’ve received that incorporated lyrics from “I am the Walrus” — and from an orthodox Lutheran, no less!

Not that I’m complaining. If anything, I’m annoyed that I didn’t know those were the lyrics, as many times as I’ve listened to that song. Of course, there’s not much value in listening closely to those particular words, as they’re pretty nonsensical.

Anyhow, a merry Christmas to you all, as well. … Except for any Orthodox people, who may continue to enjoy Advent.

The beatles were all about nonsene. They were perhaps the beg-ining of postmodern confusion, denial of natural law, purviews of the kama sutra sexuality the leaves people’s relatioships nothing more than refuse, a refusal of humanity. No God only lets’s believe in nothingness. Hey they are even of Biblical proportions as the fools, as in the Palter, they were and the few who still retain a woeful cultural blockage to sensiblities God gave us! May the nations repent of the beatles. They and we are more than bugs or the Monkeys’ drival of 45 years ago! Woe on rock ad roll.

I love the Rock Music of Credence Clear Water as the counterpoint to cultural madness. Have aBlessed and Happy New Year all+++

  • Yes, Pete, you win. I can’t believe more of you didn’t recognize the holiday classic. I could be wrong but I’m under the distinct impression that Kenneth doesn’t like “I am the Walrus.”

I was trying to find words to refer to the scientific types as opposed to the literary types who frequent this blog. I thought of “experts,” then “textperts,” a coinage that came from the song, so I threw in the next words, “choking smokers.”

My mind and memory are full of all kinds of odd things. It’s like a cluttered attic, which I like to rummage through from time to time, especially when I’m looking for something.

And, yes, Pete, I thought I would come back to the person who identified the reference with something like “and now we know you are as old as I am” but you anticipated even that!

    No nonsense there, eh? 😉

Actually, I m a pretty big fan of Creedence myself, but just sayin’.
