Did Trump slander America?

Poster_russianIn an interview aired Sunday, Bill Oโ€™Reilly asked President Trump why he is so supportive of Russian strongman Vladimir Putin. ย After all, said Oโ€™Reilly, โ€œPutinโ€™s a killer.โ€

โ€œThere are a lot of killers,โ€ Trump replied. โ€œGot a lot of killers. What, do you think our countryโ€™s so innocent?โ€

Says a Wall Street Journal editor, โ€œTrump puts US on moral par with Putinโ€™s Russia. Never in history has a President slandered his country like this.โ€

Fox News released excerpts of the interview Saturday in which host Bill Oโ€™Reilly asks the president why heโ€™s so respectful of Putin.

โ€œPutinโ€™s is a killer,โ€ Oโ€™Reillyย said in the interview.

โ€œThere are a lot of killers,โ€ Trump responded. โ€œGot a lot of killers. What, do you think our countryโ€™s so innocent?โ€. . . .

The excerpts drew condemnation from some conservatives, including the Wall Street Journalโ€™s deputy editorial page editor, who tweeted that โ€œTrump puts US on moral par with Putinโ€™s Russia. Never in history has a President slandered his country like this.โ€
