DISCUSS: The Midterm Elections

This coming Tuesday, November 8, is the midterm election, in which citizens will elect all of 435 congressional representatives, each of whom serves only a two-year term, and 35 of 50 Senators.  And, of course, governors and a host of state and local officials and referenda.

The stakes are higher than usual.  The Republicans need to pick up a net gain of just five seats to gain control of the House of Representatives.  They must pick up a net gain of just one seat to gain control of the Senate.

If Republicans hold even one of the Houses of Congress, they can thwart the progressive agenda of President Biden and the Democrats.

This means that politics is not just local in this election.  A conservative worried about what the Democrats might do with a majority may be in the position of having to vote for a flawed candidate just because of the national implications.

So this weekend we will discuss the midterm elections.  Offer your predictions, analysis, and last-minute politicking.  Or whatever you want to say about it.
