DISCUSS: Books That “Set You on Fire”

Jay Nordlinger discusses books that not only influenced him but inspired him–as he says, set him “on fire”–and asks his readers:

What book or books made an impression on you, or set you on fire? What book or books were key in the formation of your politics, or worldview?

So I’ll ask you the same questions.  Nordlinger focuses mainly on politics and economics, but I hope you’ll also cite religious books, works of literature, and other non-political, non-economic titles (though feel free to mention those too).
