Some Catholics are saying that the Reformation is over, so Protestants now should unite with Rome. This is because exactly 25 years ago last week, on October 31, 1999, Reformation Day, the "Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification" was signed, an agreement between the Vatican and the Lutheran World Federation, plus eventually other mainline liberal Protestants. Why this did NOT resolve the Reformation issues.
What do you think will happen with Trump's second term?
Most conservative Christians are happy with the re-election of Donald Trump and the Republican's big victory, even though his campaign pushed evangelicals to the sidelines and cast aside their most important issue, the pro-life cause. Still, his election bodes well for other issues they care about. The prospects are dim for Christian nationalism, but Christian realism is a better option anyway.
Michael Brendan Dougherty is not a fundamentalist preacher but a sober mainstream conservative pundit. He interpreted the 2016 election between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump as the judgment of God. But he goes beyond politics to realize that nations, churches, and all of us are under God's judgment. St. Paul goes further, saying that believing we are exempt from that shuts out the forgiveness that we all need.
The Democrats were confident that they would sweep Donald Trump away. Instead, they suffered a devastating defeat. Now they are trying to figure out what happened. And they seem to be having second thoughts about woke ideology.

Cultural conservatives shouldn't feel too giddy over Donald Trump's victory. The election also marked the victory of abortion as a woman's "right." Not that the Democrats were successful in making abortion a winning issue for their cause. Rather, the election showed that conservatives also support abortion.
What are your thoughts about the election?
Donald Trump was elected president. It wasn't even close. Given the magnitude of Trump's victory, maybe we're not as divided as we think.
