Swedenblogian is active again! After a long hiatus, Susan has started posting again, beginning yesterday with a post entitled “I can’t shut up“. I’m glad she can’t. Susan has described herself as a Catholic fan of Swedenborg, and I love her outside-the-organized-New-Church perspective on the Writings. A little more about her, from a post earlier today:
I have Swedenborgian tendencies, but I am in the closet in my real life. Everyone around me is normal, but I always knew I was different … probably knew it back when I was 13, but of course had no real contact with any Swedenborgians. I just could never be completely attracted to the Catholic church. Then on a midlife trip toSan Fran the library I had an eye-opening experience. Couldn’t talk about it openly; no one would have understood. From then on, I kept a copy of Arcana Coelestia under my mattress and read whenever I was alone. Sure, I still attend my church just like nothing has changed. But, during the Bible readings, my mind now wanders into desires I can’t control …
I sometimes wonder if there aren’t a lot more “closet Swedenborgians” than we know. Anyway, I’m glad she’s back in the Swedenblogosphere!
