2 Thessalonians 2: The Coming

2 Thessalonians 2: The Coming September 22, 2011

“1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come.” -2 Thessalonians 2:1-2

Christ’s return is often viewed with fear. People wonder if some new form of technology is the mark of the beast or if each new national leader could be the Antichrist. But for the Christian, Christ’s return should not cause alarm. It is to be something we view with encouragement and excitement.

Paul tells his readers to not become easily unsettled. The same could be said to Christians today. We must live as if Christ could return at any moment and then look forward to when he does, not out of fear, but out of anticipation for eternity with our Lord.
