“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.” -Hebrews 3:1
Believers in Christ are to have their minds focused on Christ. Unlike Eastern religions that teach us to empty ourselves, Christians have a clear focus–Jesus Christ. This life is not an illusion, but rather incomplete. We live this life knowing that eternal life is but a heartbeat away.
Further, Hebrews 3:1 teaches that Jesus is our apostle and high priest. An apostle was a sent one, a person with a message. A high priest served as the spiritual leader for the people of God. Jesus operates as both the messenger and the spiritual leader of our lives (and much more).
Today, rather than being distracted by the details of life and becoming weary in the process, fix your thoughts on Jesus. Let each moment be a moment of reflection, of prayer, and of mindfulness of the One who has set us free and has offered us eternity.
