1 John 5: God Hears Us

1 John 5: God Hears Us November 25, 2011

“14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” -1 John 5:14-15

Have you ever wondered if God hears your prayers? Really hears them? We all have. Yet this doubt is not from God. He offers a clear answer to this enduring question.

First, God promises that if we ask according to his will, he hears us. Of course, God hears everything, but this context means hearing with the intent to respond. When we ask to win the lottery or for a newest sports car, God probably isn’t too concerned with how to provide. But when we ask according to his will, he hears–and plans to act.

It doesn’t matter if the request seems ridiculous to us or not. God’s power is unlimited. Instead, our goal must be to serve his will. Then, when we pray, we can pray with confidence that the answer is already on the way. God hears us.
