Revelation 12:

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” -Revelation 12:11

Ultimate love is selfless, not selfish. Jesus showed the greatest example of this unique love through his death on the cross. Yet he has not been the only one to illustrate selfless love.

In Revelation 12 we find a prophecy that discusses a group of Christians who had died for their faith. We are told that they triumphed over Satan by the blood of the Lamb and their testimony. Further, we read, “They did not love their lives so much as  to shrink from death.”

For many of us, our greatest fear is death. Yet this can also be the source of greatest love. Whether the cross of Christ or those who willingly offer their lives for their faith today, death is the greatest example of love–a love that leads to eternal life.
