Exodus 12: How God Answers

Exodus 12: How God Answers March 27, 2012

“40 Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the LORD’s divisions left Egypt. 42 Because the LORD kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the LORD for the generations to come.” -Exodus 12:40-42

God promised to free his people. On the night of the first Passover, He did. 430 years to the exact day, the people of Israel walked out of slavery and into the trusting hands of God.

Much has been written and could be said, but I noticed here a couple of key observations:

1. God’s answers are according to his timeline, not ours. He didn’t say when he would answer, only that he would answer. I would do well to remember this in my own prayers.

2. God’s answers are always best. If the Israelites had been freed under different conditions, they would have left with no resources and in abject poverty. As a result of how God orchestrated events, the Israelites left with plenty of provisions and and even gold from their captors.

God always keeps his promises, in his time, according to his perfect will. We may not enjoy the circumstances of life, yet we can trust in our Lord who orchestrates life to bring the greatest glory to his name.
