Numbers 26: A Lasting Legacy

Numbers 26: A Lasting Legacy July 18, 2012

64 Not one of them was among those counted by Moses and Aaron the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Desert of Sinai. 65 For the Lord had told those Israelites they would surely die in the wilderness, and not one of them was left except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun. -Numbers 26:64-65

Author Stephen Covey passed away a few days ago. Known as the man behind The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, one of his best-known principles was to “Begin with the end in mind.” In other words, determine what legacy you wish to leave and work toward it starting today. Joshua and Caleb did not have the advice of Covey, but they lived by the same principle.

After forty years in the wilderness, only two men over twenty years old remained–Joshua and Caleb (plus Moses, though he passed away before crossing the Jordan). They were men who stood for what was right and stood for God. Their legacy remains even today.

What about you? What legacy will you leave? Think about it now and begin working toward it today.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
