Deuteronomy 34: Living Well

Deuteronomy 34: Living Well September 17, 2012

“For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.” -Deuteronomy 34:12

Moses is remembered in history as a man of God. In fact, the final verse of the Torah, likely penned by Joshua or another later writer, mentioned concerning Moses, “For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.”

Interestingly, these final words focus on what God did through Moses. Though he had received a great education, had led the nation of Israel for forty years, and penned the words of the Law at God’s command, his remembrance is centered on his actions.

It has been said at the end of life, no one will ask what you have read, but what you had done. For a guy like me who writes and edits words for a living, this thought is convicting. I love to study and learn God’s ways, but living them is a much more difficult task. Let us today invest our moments in doing what God has said. We must not sit content only to hear from God, but to live for God.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
