Joshua 5: God’s Power

Joshua 5: God’s Power 2012-09-24T12:40:31-04:00

“Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the coast heard how the Lord had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, their hearts melted in fear and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites.” -Joshua 5:1

God’s power accomplishes much more than we often think. The Lord not only parted the Jordan River, he also used the act to place fear into the hearts of Israel’s enemies. The Amorites and Canaanites no longer stood confident in their own abilities but instead realized a greater power was at work among those they opposed.

It’s an amazing insight that when God works in our lives, it changes the views of those around us–even those who oppose us! We need not live in fear, but in faith. The same God who strengthens us in our times of need carries us through times of need when others seek to cause our harm.
