Joshua 23: God Is Faithful to His Promises

Joshua 23: God Is Faithful to His Promises 2012-10-18T09:55:17-04:00

“Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” -Joshua 23:14

God never fails. The words Paul proclaimed in 1 Corinthians 13:8 harken back to the words of another Jewish leader from ancient times named Joshua. As he prepared to die, he felt compelled to remind his people of God’s perfect faithfulness.

Joshua began be describing the situation: “Now I am about to go the way of all the earth.” He knew his end was near. Joshua wanted his final words to be remembered and have an impact on his followers.

He continued, “You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” Promises had been fulfilled. Not one had failed.

Today we still struggle with trusting God. When life falls apart or another person wrongs us, we tend to think God has turned and walked away from the situation. He hasn’t. He’s still there. He will be faithful to keep every promise.
