Joshua 24: We Will Serve the Lord

Joshua 24: We Will Serve the Lord 2012-10-19T09:21:10-04:00

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” -Joshua 24:15

Joshua laid down the ultimate challenge to the Israelites. Serve the Lord or serve other gods. They could not do both.

He also made his decision clear: “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

I’m sure there are days Joshua didn’t feel like serving God, but this decision was not a matter of feelings; it was a matter of commitment.

The same is true for us.

We may not feel like doing God’s will every day, but we must make a choice. Will we serve God or not?
