1 Samuel 13: Follow God Fully

1 Samuel 13: Follow God Fully December 12, 2012

13 “You have done a foolish thing,” Samuel said. “You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. 14 But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.” -1 Samuel 13:13-14

Samuel called Saul’s action a “foolish thing” that resulted in a reign that would not last as king. What was this foolish thing?

Saul had chosen to not keep the command of the Lord. Samuel said that if he had, his kingdom would have been established over Israel for all time.

Serious consequences, but why? Because he sought to follow his own way rather than God’s.

Let us learn from Saul’s wrongful actions and live fully for God today.
