5 As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axhead fell into the water. “Oh no, my lord!” he cried out. “It was borrowed!”
6 The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it there, and made the iron float. 7 “Lift it out,” he said. Then the man reached out his hand and took it. -2 Kings 6:5-7
When an axhead fell into the water, the man who accidentally did it knew it would be costly for him to replace it to his friend. In the grand scheme of things, it may not seem like an important issue that required a few verses in the Bible.
But it did.
God led Elisha to work a miracle that rescued the axhead for this man. Did it matter? Not compared to some things in life–but it matter to that man.
And it mattered to God.
Sometimes we wonder if we should pray about something ordinary, thinking God doesn’t really care.
He does care.
This account highlights that God cares about your every need. He provides according to his perfect plan–sometimes including supernatural acts that increase our faith in him.
