2 Chronicles 6: Unlimited God

2 Chronicles 6: Unlimited God 2013-06-11T11:32:46-04:00

“But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!”– 2 Chronicles 6:18

God is unlimited. He can reign in heaven while working on earth and even understanding every thought of every creature at the same time. Solomon recognized this truth when he prayed at the dedication of the temple. The temple was not the place where God lived, but a place where God was worshiped. His presence would dwell there, but was not limited to the walls of the temple.

Many people fall to this same mistake today. They think God is at a church building and is to be worshiped on Sundays between 10am and noon. The rest of life becomes the aftermath or lead up to the big event of the week called the worship service. Yet God is much bigger than what happens in a church building at a certain time. He is with us at all places at all times.

As a result, we are called to be holy as God is holy. Jesus taught this, yet we often neglect it. Today, be holy as he is holy.
