He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah had done. 5 He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success. -2 Chronicles 26:4-5
Uzziah had success because of one reason–he sought the Lord. Twice in his introduction we are told he “sought” God. How did he learn to seek God?
Two answers are found in this passage. First, Uzziah sought God because he followed the pattern of his father. Amaziah’s example influenced his son Uzziah to live for God as well.
Second, the prophet Zechariah influenced Uzziah to seek God. As a spiritual leader, Zechariah’s influence changed the nation through his work with the king.
Still today, these two roles of parent and spiritual leader can change lives and nations.
Still today, you can serve in one of these ways to change lives. Who will you influence today?
