“Because of the love of your God for Israel and his desire to uphold them forever, he has made you king over them, to maintain justice and righteousness.” -2 Chronicles 9:8
Bathsheba recognized God’s hand of blessing upon Solomon and the nation of Israel. Nothing else could adequately explain the great things that had happened among the Israelites. She also pointed out the source of their blessing–God’s love.
We often forget this. We achieve success and wrongly believe our hard work had accomplished the task. Even worse, we attribute blessing to “being lucky” or being in the right place at the right time. But the only reason we succeed in life in what truly matters is because of God’s love.
He created us. He sustains us. It only makes sense that he would also seek to bless us at times because of his love for us. As James would later write, every good and perfect gift comes from above. God is our source of blessing. All we have is because of God’s love.
