Creative Self-Esteem

Creative Self-Esteem

I spent some time yesterday looking over my list of objectives for the year, and it’s clear that if I’m going to meet even half of them, I’m going to have to add objectives to the list -things I can cross off more easily.

I use this technique all of the time: To my list of things to accomplish for the day, I add things that weren’t on the original list, but things I have already done, just so I can cross them off.  It makes me feel more productive and I love virtually nothing more than productivity.  Some might call it spin.  I call it creative self-esteem.

So tonight I’m going to add this to our list of objectives: Shows signs of inventing a patent-worthy, marketable device.

On Christmas morning, Jeff and I reminded Ezra that our immediate family doesn’t buy gifts for Christmas and that the only presents he was going to get would be two gifts from my Mother.  His response?  “I’m okay if all I get is a self butt slapper.”  Then he thought about it some more and added a Madison Avenue flair: “I would also love an ultimate self butt slapper.”

Shows signs of inventing a patent-worthy, marketable device. Check!

Don’t judge, people.  It’s not easy convincing yourself that you aren’t ruining your kids on a good day.  On a homeschool day, I can use all of the self-esteem I can get, creative or otherwise.
