This episode of I Believe: Expressions of Faith explores the root of our discouragement, as well as four ways we can, through God, overcome the devil’s lies about our potential and capabilities.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 1:21: “Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.”

 Faith Quote: You should get into habit of looking for silver lining of storm clouds. And once you have found it, continue to focus on it rather than dark gray of center. Do not yield to discouragement no matter how severely stressed or surrounded by problems you may be. A discouraged soul is in a helpless state, being neither able to stand against the devil’s schemes himself nor able to prevail in prayer for others (Ephesians 6:11). Flee every symptom of the deadly foe of discouragement as you would run from a snake (J. B. Cowan, Streams, pp. 138-9).
