A dream that’s worthy of your persistence

A dream that’s worthy of your persistence 2015-03-13T20:30:33-06:00

Every success story is a story of persistence. Certainly many other qualities are often associated with success, things such as talent, innovation, faith, and discipline. Yet without the persistence to see it through to the end, those other things are irrelevant.

Persistence is a simple concept. Just keep going no matter what. But there’s a big difference between being persistent and being stubborn. To be persistent, you must be unyielding about where you are going while at the same time flexible about how you get there.

Persistence involves much action, and yet persistence itself is not an action. It is an attitude. It is the willingness to keep going, to find and execute new strategies when the old strategies cease to be effective. That willingness can only come from a strong sense of purpose. The way to persist is to know why you persist. The way to persist is to connect what you must do with what you truly want to be.

You have it in you to persist, but not just for any old thing. What do you really want to do with this amazing life that is yours? Forget about showing off for others. Let go of that fantasy that some lucky break is going to instantly make it all wonderful, and ask yourself — what goal, what dream, what objective would make you truly enjoy and delight in being persistent, day after day, year after year?

Imagine discovering a dream that’s worthy of your persistence, that will truly inspire your persistence. It’s in there somewhere. Take a deep breath, remember the richness of who you are, and bring it out.
