Excuse yourself

If there’s something you really don’t want to do, in just a couple of minutes you could come up with a half dozen perfectly valid excuses for not doing it. You’re highly skilled at rationalizing your way to just about any conclusion.

So here’s an idea. Point that power in a positive, creative, productive direction. Instead of coming up with excuses for not taking action, create some really great excuses that give you permission to go ahead act. Focus on something you truly desire, and give yourself a half dozen well thought out, compelling reasons to get busy and make it happen.

Instead of excusing yourself from something you don’t want to do, excuse yourself right into the life that you do want to live. Instead of using your mental energy to make well-reasoned arguments against something undesirable, direct that energy and make those arguments in favor of moving toward your most cherished dreams.

Go beyond merely wishing for the things you desire. Start rationalizing your way toward them. Can you come up with several good, logical, meaningful and compelling reasons why you must take action today? Of course you can. You make excuses all the time. Just change the object of those excuses. Instead of making excuses to get out of something, use the power of those excuses to get into the process of achieving your dreams.
