In the stressful world of our daily experience, love calls us back to the beautiful, peaceful reality of who we truly are. When pain, disappointment and frustration seem to have no end, love heals the wounds and renews the spirit.
Love is not a product or a strategy, not a possession or an advantage. Love is not merely an experience, a feeling or an event. Love is why.
Love is why we do what we do, why we desire what we desire. Love is why we laugh and sacrifice, toil and learn and feast and wonder. Behind each impulse, in some way or another, is love.
When we think we can live apart from love, that’s when the stress begins. When the meaningless tokens steal our focus away, giving birth to false assumptions and obsessions, we soon find ourselves painfully far from where we want to be. Yet in an instant, love can bring us back.
Love is so simple and universal that even a newborn baby, with no experiential frame of reference, can understand it immediately. Love is so profound that no one can fully grasp its power. Love never grows old, and continues to grow more abundant within individual lives and throughout all of creation.
Love is where our best efforts and experiences come from. By continually returning to authentic love, we rediscover the best of who we are. When there is a problem, a challenge, a frustration or disappointment, the most effective and fulfilling approach going forward is an approach based in love.
Love is why we feel disappointment in the first place, and love is why we find the way to move beyond disappointment. Love is why we seek to transcend the challenges, and love is why we’re able to do so.
Love has no reason, for it is the reason. Love is why we are.
