Limiting beliefs will stop you cold and hold you back. So how to get beyond them? Here are some proven techniques.

Action
Take action, any kind of action that will be effective and get something accomplished. Even if it’s only something small you accomplish, every time you create value, you remind yourself of your own effectiveness.

Gratitude
Think of something in your life for which you’re profoundly thankful. Gratitude takes your focus off of the negative limitations, and puts that focus on the positive possibilities.

Compassion
Help someone else. When you take your focus off yourself, guess what? You also take your focus off your limiting beliefs. Being of genuine service to others will boost your own confidence and self esteem.

Variety
Get out of your rut. Do something new and different, outside the regular old routine. Shake up your perceptions and your expectations a little bit. Expand your vision. Seeing and doing and hearing and reading the same things every day will reinforce the perception of limitation. Exposing yourself to new and challenging situations will force you to step beyond those limiting beliefs.

Dream
Connect with your dreams. Wrap your thoughts and feelings around what you most truly desire. Be careful that you’re not borrowing the dreams of others. Sink into your very own dreams, the things that mean the most to you. Your dreams are yours because you are the person who can reach them and express them fully. Touch them, feel them intensely, and your limiting beliefs will melt away.
