A brief PSA this morning:
I agree with the #NashvilleStatement, issued yesterday from the Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.
No, seriously. I agree with them.
I agree that there is no room to “agree to disagree” about the full humanity and worth of all God’s people.
I agree there is no room for discussion or debate about who is welcome at the table, and who gets to be part of the kingdom.
There is no discussion. No debate. Because the gospel, for all its contradictions, is clear on at least a few things:
- the inclusion and welcome of all
- the spiritual necessity of compassion, and the directive to love neighbor as self
- and the zero B.S. policy about not judging another’s splinter when you’ve got a big damn tree sticking out of your own eyeball.
And that’s all I’ve got to say about that. Nobody gets to tell us we aren’t Christians because we follow the actual gospel of Jesus, and not some ancient proof-texty clobber verses. We follow the way of Christ. We love and serve our neighbor. Full stop.
Back to work.
