on direct communication from the Spirit

This is a bit of a touchy subject in our day and age, specifically because of mental health. If a person says they have seen a burning bush that did not burn up, and have heard an audible voice, then many practitioners {and people in general} may want to diagnose the person.

In fact it is my belief that some strict social scientists could attempt to diagnose many of the prophets and characters in Scripture.

So for self-preservation many people who genuinely hear from the Spirit in some manner are apprehensive about talking about it.

Unfortunately, for social scientists there are verifiable instances when the Spirit directs.

How do you explain two people in the same service having the exact same “word” to share with the congregation.

How does one person speak in tongues and another hear it in his native tongue? The first person is merely speaking in tongues. The second person is hearing the message in his/her native language.

How do multiple people witness a creative miracle when there is some type of visible healing?

Why do some people attest to a fog-like cloud above the altars, something we used to call the Shekinah?

Have multiple people ever seen a couple angels show up in a service at the same time?

the issue at hand

If someone reports a personal directive or injunction from the Spirit, some other people may be prone to diagnose.

However, mass hypnosis is extremely difficult to pull off.

It’s nearly impossible to produce a mass hallucination.

Within the safety of the congregation, if there are multiple witnesses, it’s safe to consider the possibility that the Spirit of God has indeed moved.

Also, in some congregations it’s the testimonies of individuals that offer great encouragement. It’s as if some church leaders can discern if an individual has really had direct communication from the Spirit by the testimonies.
