Texts for Desperation

Texts for Desperation March 1, 2024

There are times of desperation. This is inevitable. There are times when you need hope, when you need someone to throw you a rope.

These Scriptures have come to the fore in a season of desperation. You will notice the formatting is different on some of them. I have copied and pasted from personal correspondence. Many of these Texts are not from my own readings. Many of them are encouragements and reflections of the spoken Word in plenary services.

I have been encouraged despite desperation. I pray you are too.

“Do not be afraid of them,” the Lord said…
Joshua 10.8

I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I know the Lord is ALWAYS with me.
I will not be shaken,
for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises.
My body rests in safety.
Psalm 16.7-9

He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53.3-5

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
John 14.23

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3.3
“I am learning from Jesus how to live my life as if He were living it if He were me.”

The chastisement for our peace was upon him…
Isaiah 53.3-5

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Job 13.15

Joshua 1:9 – Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

II Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not his mouth
Isaiah 53.7
