This is a brief reminder to vote. We are not commanded in Scripture to vote, but there was no voting in the time of Scripture, so it’s a non-issue. There are plenty of passages about us being prayerful and good citizens. So in principle, I believe we should vote.
To be entirely honest, I got behind in the game this year. I have an out-of-state drivers license. I did not change my drivers license. Nor did I vote absentee. By the time I remembered I could vote absentee, it was too late. Although I am unable to vote, and the fault is mine, I still hope to do a little due diligence with this post.
First of all, no matter the outcome, I am always reminded of Proverbs 21.1:
The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord,
Like the rivers of water;
He turns it wherever He wishes.
Proverbs 21.1
Secondly, there is so much rhetoric to sort through, it’s good to have a visual representation of where the candidates stand on the issues. This should help you make up your mind if you happen to be in the middle.
There are definitely some differences between the options we have this year.
There’s nothing wrong with allowing your Christian values to inform your vote.
