Three Messages | Ephesians 4.17-24
An experiment for YouTube and the blog from some recent opportunities to share the message
I’ve been honored to share some messages as an itinerant preacher at Long Lake Church and West Bay Covenant Church this summer. There are others who have shared as well. It’s always good to have an opportunity to do what I can, especially when I look around and see other ministers who are making amazing contributions to the greater church in this region and season. I’ll also be speaking at Long Lake Church and at Christ Community Church in September.
Ephesians 4.17-20 (31:11 minutes)
An exploration of shame, guilt, and the interior life
Preview from the sermon: Just the word “guilt,” and the various words that are in that same word family, occur 145 times in the Old Testament and 10 times in the New Testament. That’s the word “guilt.” Now the word “shame,” and the word family of shame or those words that are linked to it, occur 300 times in the Old Testament and 45 times in the New Testament.
I’m sharing a message in Ephesians that I’ve never shared anywhere else before. I just want to ask the question, do we want to revolutionize the world or reform it? My answer would possibly be that if we reformed the church, it could revolutionize the world.
We’ve made Sermon notes available online for those who would like to follow along.

Ephesians 4.17-23 (30:32 minutes)
Transformation and renewal of community life
In the second study on the book of Ephesians, I just want to share the message that it’s not all about the interior life. It is also about the community life, and specifically community renewal. That’s what we’ll be primarily focusing on in this particular message.
Ephesians 4.20-24 (28:01 minutes)
Taking a step back and looking at big picture ideas
Preview from the sermon: We’re not going to just dissect each word like we’ve done. Again, let’s take a step back and look at this passage. There are three big picture ideas that I want to share with you, that span what we’ve looked at so far.
