Rallying in Dallas: DAMN THE NRA!

Good Evening. We’ve gathered here tonight to talk about guns. It wasn’t too long ago that we had a conversation about guns. It wasn’t too long ago that here in this very city we had a major tragedy involving guns. In these very streets…we marched for justice for Philando Castille and Alton Sterling. We were demanding justice with all that we had. We were demanding a reprieve from gun violence. As we got to the end of the march, gun violence visited us. Five officers murdered in our streets. Blood running down the streets of Dallas. AND THE NRA HAS THE NERVE TO COME TO OUR CITY!!! PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS THE NERVE TO COME TO OUR CITY!!! I don’t want anybody in that convention hall to talk about these five offivers… Because it is there ideas…it is the ideas of President Trump…it is the ideas of the NRA that were responsible for that tragedy…for the deaths of those five officers…and for every instance of gun violence that takes place. Why would anyone need an assault weapon? People want to talk about safety. These weapons are about killing as many people as possible. I am a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a follower of the Gospel of Jesus Christ…there are so many people in that convention hall and throughout our society claiming the same thing. Jesus talks about…loving your neighbor. How in the hell can you love your neighbor as yourself and keep sending guns to their neighborhood? What does it mean to be angry? Tonight, I want you to know that I am angry. There is nothing wrong with being angry. In fact…if you’re not angry…you don’t have a soul. It is in our soul that we figure out how to love those who have experienced the tragedy of gun violence. It is in our soul that we begin to work. It is in our soul that we begin to think about what we can do. It is in our soul that we put one foot in front of the other and march to change our world. As I finish up, I have one message that I want to leave with you.

DAMN THE NRA!

DAMN THEIR MONEY!

DAMN THEIR POLICIES!

AND

DAMN THEIR GUNS!
