In the next few days I’m publishing here a student project by Renee Dinges, who is preparing herself for church-planting in the Vineyard. She, along with some young folk at the Vineyard Church in Evanston, have initiated a new “party evangelism” format and here are the results of her project: she wants it to be a magazine. |inline

Kris and I were invited to Eastpoint Community Church, in New-ARK Delaware, this weekend. Tom Ward has developed one of the finest church websites I’ve seen. |inline

I’m off early this morning for a Jesus Creed morning with the Covenant Church in Harbert, Michigan. The good folks there are going through the book during Lent, and so it is nice to be invited to put some “flesh” on that book.

Next week we fly down to Sprindale Community Church in Louisville, and then the next weekend we are in Delaware (new State for me) at Eastpoint — the Purple Pastor.

The post recently about the apocryphal books of the Old Testament, along with the poll, took me a bit by surprise. What I’m wondering is if you would purchase and read a TNIV (or NIV) that decided to include the Apocrypha? Or would you find that over the line? (I’m using the NIV and TNIV only because I’m unaware that Zondervan has ever provided a translation of the Apocrypha.)

Sunday, March 5, I spoke at Village Church of Gurnee. The pastor is an old friend. Todd Habeggar and we first met on a basketball court: he was the star center at Fort Wayne (now Summit College) and I was a guard at Cornerstone. Todd had pointed elbows, and I learned right away that he could use them. |inline

Summarizing a clear but still technical journal article is not easy, and so shorter here is better. David Mills, a prof at Cedarville University, asks if the critics of emergent leaders are justified in their accusation that the leaders are epistemological relativists or deniers of truth. His piece is called “Mountain or Molehill? The Question of Truth and the Emerging Church.” My read of his piece is that the critics have made a mountain of a molehill. |inline

The reason everyone reads Wright is because Wright writes to be read by everyone. This Chestertonian imitation of mine is something that I find true everytime I read Tom Wright: he’s delightful to read. Today Allan and I continue our posts about his new book, Paul in Fresh Perspective. Here is Allan’s summary and my response follows below: |inline

Eugene Peterson, in his Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places, pp. 119-129, sets out a second element of cultivating fear of the Lord in creation. The first was Sabbath, upon which I posted some time in December, and the second is wonder. Ever wonder about wonder? |inline
