We left Dublin and headed for Belfast and at Belfast we managed to escape the temptation to examine Cerrickfergus Castle so we could take a more leisurely drive up the coast to the Antrim Coast on the top of the north of Ireland. On the Antrim Coast, not far west from Carrick-a-Rede (pictures yesterday), is a set of formations that is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. As the volcanic stuff cooled, it cracked into mostly hexagon pieces. Incredible. Read more

On the far north coast of Ireland, what is called the Antrim Coast, you can find the remains of an old fortress but the only way to cross from the mainland parts of the place to the outer island is to take this rope bridge … it was fun. Next to Skellig Michael is Skellig Little, and the island is overtaken by Gannets. I took this picture into the sky, so it’s a bit too light, but if you click on the picture it will blow up and you can see them everywhere.
