OneCry by Byron Paulus and Bill Elliff is a book which will inspire you to pray for spiritual awakening in America. OneCry is a nationwide call for spiritual awakening. As the title states, the book is the story of a movement to get another Spiritual Awakening in America. The book begins by describing a brief history of revivals in America as well as the cycle of spiritual awakening. Following that, they reveal the six realities of a spiritual awakening:

Reality 4 – He’s Listening

Following the realities of spiritual awakening, the book describes a process. The authors describe a One Cry Highway to spiritual awakening. This highway is a set of personal steps to revival and awakening. First, they ask for a commitment to turn, pray, and unite. Then they ask for a commitment to spread the word through three more steps: pray, share, lead.

Pray – 50,000 people pleading with God for spiritual awakening

Share – 5,000 voices to spread the message

Lead – 500 leaders mobilizing God’s people regionally and nationally

The third step is to ask God: “What do you want me to do?”

The book contains appendices which contain (1) stories about the power of prayer, (2) prayer patterns in the Bible, (3) a personal revival checklist, and (4) revival tweets.

Each chapter has a set of “Thinking It Through” reflection questions, which are followed by a set of prayers under the heading “Crying Out.” Each chapter also has a unique QR Code for the reader to scan with their smartphone. These codes point to more content online.

The book gives a great general introduction to the process of spiritual awakening. The book provides the steps and a pathway to personal revival. However, the book is just the beginning.
