Two people who have been spiritual inspirations to me are seriously ill.
Rev. Michael Dowd is an “evolutionary evangelist” who has spent the last several years traveling the country teaching and preaching that science and religion are not mutually exclusive. Michael preached at DUUF in 2006, I also heard him speak at Community UU in Plano last year. His most recent book is Thank God for Evolution.
Michael has developed diffuse large B cell lymphoma. He and his partner Connie Barlow have had to leave the road and stay with friends in while he undergoes treatment.
Isaac Bonewits is one of the living legends of the modern Pagan movement, and one of the founders of Ár nDraíocht Féin: A Druid Fellowship. He’s written numerous books; Neopagan Rites (an update of the previously titled Rites of Worship) should be required reading for every Druid, Wiccan, or other Pagan.
Isaac is currently hospitalized with three large tumors on his prostate, one of which has been determined to be cancerous. The diagnosis isn’t complete yet, although early analysis is optimistic. Isaac is an irregular blogger in the best of times, but his partner Phaedra is posting updates on their Facebook page.
Healing prayers and workings for Michael and Isaac would be appreciated by them, and by me.
