I thought it would be fun to share some little known facts about myself. Those closet to me probably know these things, but I though I’d let ya’ll get to know me a little bit better! 🙂
I’m an introvert!
Most people don’t believe them when I tell them that. My personality is naturally very outgoing and I absolutely adore people, however I need regular time away from people to recharge, think through things and enjoy the alone time. Introverts are typically thought of as quiet shy people, but I believe the correct definition is from where introverts and extroverts find their energy, and how they recharge. Some people thrive off the being around a group of people.
While I sincerely do love people, time away and alone is absolutely necessary for me. I tend to be very introspective and like to process my thoughts by writing or by taking long walks. The way I try to balance my time is by getting at least half an hour of alone time daily, about an hour or so weekly, and each month I like to take a morning or an afternoon and try to “get away”. In D.C. it’s a bit difficult to find places alone, so I typically go to the Botanical Gardens, a coffeehouse that isn’t in my neighborhood.
I drink approximately 4-6 cups of coffee a day!
Yes, I am aware that is a lot of coffee! My justification for drinking so much coffee is that I drink it black. A truly good cup of coffee is one of life’s simplest gifts, and one that I enjoy quite often!
I would rather be told I’m funny than I’m pretty.
Sure, every girl wants to be beautiful and I am no exception. However, beauty quickly fades but the ability laugh at yourself and make others laugh is something that will last a lifetime.
“It is a curious fact that people are never so trivial as when they take themselves seriously.” – Oscar Wilde
“A good laugh makes any interview, or any conversation, so much better.” – Barbara Walters
“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” – Proverbs 21:17
A part of me dreams of leaving D.C.
While I have fallen in love with some many things about this city, a small part of me dreams about moving to a little house with a white picket fence, a red door and a ginormous garden in the back. I would spend my days writing books, planting flowers, feeding birds, and enjoying life at a slower pace. Maybe one day this dream will be fulfilled, but the Lord has specifically called me to D.C. for the time being. I know that He has work for me here to do, and until He says “go” I’m settled here.
I’m happiest when…
I’m with my family!
I was born on the same day as my favorite composer.
Mozart (January 27 – in case you were curious!
My dream job is…
To adopt as many kids as I possibly can, love them fiercely and show them my Savior. Essentially I want to be a Mom to the least of these!
I hope ya’ll enjoyed getting to know me a little bit better! 🙂
