The Night I Was Cinderella!

Recently, I was invited to be a guest at benefit gala for a local pregnancy center in D.C., and felt like Cinderella the entire evening!

Caroline, my friend, former co-worker and roommate was in town for the weekend and I invited her to come as my plus one for the evening. We had an absolutely perfect Saturday. After sleeping in until about 9:00 a.m., we had a quiet morning at home for a few hours, finally our tummies reminded us that we should eat something. So we strolled through Eastern Market, and found an adorable French cafe and lingered over coffee and brunch.

…and I made new friends!

After spending a few hours catching up on life, we went and got a manicure and hunted for evening dresses. I hadn’t been to a black tie event in D.C., and didn’t have anything suitable to wear. 

After trying on several dresses, I found one of the most gorgeous dresses I’ve ever worn. We quickly purchased our gowns and headed home to get read After showering and making ourselves look presentable, we called a cab and headed off to the event. The gala was held at The Organization of American States, a perfect venue for the evening. Upon arriving, we snagged a few photos on the steps before heading in.

Once inside, we made our way upstairs, where we were met with an elegant ballroom, a gorgeous dinner buffet, a a live band playing Frank Sinatra. Trying not to act like the 12 year old girl who had always dreamed of attending something like this, I told myself that I had to act like a lady. So Caroline and I ate our dinner while getting to know people at our table.

Then it was time to dance! Both of us were asked to dance all evening and had a blast swing dancing to big band music. We also made sure to explore the building!

I found my future child! 🙂

I truly felt like a princess all evening, from the gorgeous gown, the beautiful venue, dancing the night away. This evening will definitely go down in the books as one of those evenings that every little girl dreams about having. I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to attend and enjoy a perfect evening!
