What were her parents thinking?!
Sheila Ranea Crabtree hates the name her parents chose for her. She hates it so much, in fact, that she has dropped her first name altogether, and she’s asked a judge to change her first name to Sexy.
The Pataskala, Ohio mother of two wears Victoria’s Secret clothing all the time; so it only makes sense, she figures, to adopt the more fitting handle “Sexy”. She has paid the $87 court fee and will appear in the Licking County Court of Common Pleas in February, appearing before Judge Robert Hoover to petition for the legal name change.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Judge Hoover might just be a tough sell.
- He once denied a man’s request to change his name to Tasmanian Devil, but did allow the first name Taz.
- He also denied the request of a young woman who wanted to be known as Winnie Pooh.
- Last year, he allowed a woman to change her last name to StoneKeepTalkingTree.
Judge Hoover sometimes turns down name changes if he feels as though people are mentally unsound. For example, five years ago he denied the request of a woman who rode a horse to the courthouse and walked in wearing a bathrobe. She said something about conducting the Last Supper and poisoning her husband afterward. She wanted to be known as Jesus Christ Lord & Savior.
“I denied that because I wasn’t certain she was fully competent,” Hoover told the paper.
Just in case Judge Hoover doesn’t accept her petition, Sheila Ranea has a backup choice: She likes the name “Sparkle”.
Oh, and the name “Sheila,” by the way, is derived from the Latin for “heavenly.”
