Swiss Bishop Marian Eleganti delighted the crowd by picking up his guitar and joining the band at the annual International Youth Prayer Festival in Medjugorje, July 31-August 6, 2014.

Crown of Stars, a British blog which promotes the messages of Medjugorje, has the story:

The 58-year-old Benedictine, who is auxiliary bishop of Chur in Switzerland, joined the orchestra and choir on the final day of the week-long event that attracts tens of thousands of young people and families from around the world. The festival is now in its 25th year.

Bishop Marian Eleganti, O.S.B., auxiliary bishop of Chur, serves as the Swiss diocese’s bishop for youth.  He is no stranger to the strings:  After the World Youth Day Mass in Fortaleza, Brazil, Bishop Eleganti “rocked like Bob Dylan“, bringing the crowd to their feet.

In addition to his musical expertise, Bishop Eleganti speaks seven languages and is a published author.  His doctoral dissertation at the University of Salzburg was on the esteemed Catholic priest, writer and academic Romano Guardini.  Before being named to the episcopacy, Bishop Eleganti served as Abbott of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Otmasberg.

Here is Bishop Eleganti in an earlier jam session with young people.  (Apologies in advance for the camera work!)
